Japanese Dragon Nest PV

As many of you may know, Dragon Nest is a new action RPG game developed by Eyedentity Games and has been in OBT since March in Korea.
Other countries have showed interest in this game such as China, Japan and America.
CBT is about to start in Japan, starting from April 28th. OBT is in late May and the official version will be presented in June.

Aside from Tespia, I have been playing this game nonstop. I am almost Lv. 30 and it’s so much fun! Since I’m leveling fast, I am facing a disadvantage.
The level cap right now is 32 and you cannot earn % at Lv. 32. I hope a big update with a level cap removal will come soon~!

Dragon Nest makes use of voice acting, which means you will hear many different voices from NPCs, monsters and skills.
Recently it has been announced that Japanese rockstar GACKT will be lending his voice to Belskard, the main villain in Dragon Nest.

To promote Dragon Nest in Japan, a promotional video has been released.

This PV is so good. I watched it today for 3 times already. +_+
I hope Dragon Nest will come to America soon, so you can enjoy and have fun as well!

Midnight ban imposed on online games

In South Korea you can find a lot of gamers. Many of them have an addiction where they play for days without getting the normal amount of water, food and sleep.

I think many of you heard this on the news recently, the case of parents who let their actual infant starve while they took care of a virtual baby in an MMO.
Quite shocking.

To prevent this, the South Korean government is going to implement a sort of shutdown system/curfew in a few selected online games.

This includes popular games such as MapleStory, Dragon Nest and many more.
Atleast Dragon Nest has a fatigue system.
But games like LineAge, World of Warcraft and Starcraft will probably not be affected by this new policy.

This policy applies to underaged players. In Korea, you are considered an adult when you are nineteen years old.

MapleSEA’s ”Win A Trip To Korea” contest

MapleSEA held a “Win a Trip to Korea” contest with the launch of the Aran class last November.
The contest was about winning a trip to South Korea to explore everything what Korea has to offer~
Not only Korea, but also the Nexon office.

Four winners were chosen.

Occasionally I check the Facebook of GMS and MapleSEA because sometimes there are new photos and information on their profiles.
I already saw the ”Won Our Trip to Korea!!! >w<” album a couple days ago, but recently new photos of the Nexon office were uploaded.

I took a peek and saw interesting photos.  I’m actually envious of these four winners. I really am.
Does anyone know them in real life? I’m really curious about what they heard. And did they get the chance to ask questions about future content? I wish I could talk to them. >.<!

Also does anyone know when these pictures were taken? Because on one of the photos I saw a monitor with a picture of Lex, the newest boss monster that was released in Tespia version 1.2.300. (!)

I’m not going to post the whole album haha, but only a few shots from the Nexon office.

Do you want to see the photos that I found interesting?

Sneak peek of Dual Blade

Ah! While the new job is under development, there is already a sneak peek of the new upcoming job in MapleStory: Dual Blade.
A lot articles were published today about the presentation of Dual Blade by Nexon.

Last week I visited a few MapleStory forums about this new job. Not too long ago, I posted an entry about the job ID of Dual Blade.
People were assuming that Nexon/Wizet made a mistake and that the job ID was a placeholder. I really doubt they would make a mistake like that.

The data proves by its job ID that its an Adventurer and the character selection screen says its an Adventurer.

I managed to find a much better image of the character selection window. Courtesy of thisisgame.com.

On the image above, you can read Adventurers and Dual Blade,  but you can tell that they’re both Adventurers because of the same color background and it says Adventurers in big letters.  (모험가)
Aran and Evan are both considered Heroes. (영웅)

This job does have an own Cash Shop storage and a different way of growing.

Go under the cut for very interesting information and skills.

The popularity of Evan

Nexon Korea announced that with the release of the new job Evan, Maple Story recorded 240,000 simultaneous users during the Christmas period.

The release of Evan received an explosive reaction from users who have waiting for the big update.
This means Evan did not break the record. Nexon Korea recorded 240,000 simultaneous users when Knights of Cygnus was released in December 2008 and one year later Evan has done the same.

The release of the Pirate job in 2007  had a total of 200,000 simultaneous users. The same for Aran.
Right now South Korean students have a very long winter break, which means they have more available time to play.

We’ll see how the next job will do. The future will tell.

I have some other news that might be worth telling you; MapleStory DS is coming very soon. It looks like Nexon Korea is planning to release MapleStory DS in January. It was originally planned to be released in September 2007, but the schedule was extended.

Maple DS does not support Wi-Fi.

The last thing I want to tell is that the new creation of Wizet Studio ”Kavatina Story” has decided to temporarily pull the plug.
Kavatina Story (MapleStory 3D) a game created by Wizet Studio has been in OBT (Open Beta) since July 2009.
I stopped playing this game because the team did not release big updates. This also caused other players to lose interest in the game.

On December 31st the service will end and you will not be able to play.
Kavatina Story will be back with a new look and updates once they finished development.

Q&A: What’s next for KMS?

Not too long ago I blogged about MapleStory 2 and major updates coming to 2010.
Yesterday an article was published on insoya.com with very appreciated information.

A user conference was held in Korea where people had the opportunity to attend a Q&A session and ask some questions to the MapleStory team.

Summary of the Q&A:

  • Windowed mode coming soon if no problems are coming to the surface.
  • When asked if they will make Adventurer stronger,  they said a balancing patch is scheduled for January.
  • The Arch Mage will probably get a skill rebalance  (because you have to agree that the Arch Mage is weak) along with Shadower and Paladin.
  • There was a question about the ”one-kill” skill of the Bishop and Arch Mage. But this question couldn’t be answered. Changing everything at one time is asking for problems.
  • They say it’s best to balance the jobs first than releasing high leveled content first. High leveled content for +100 is planned after this.
  • The reason that the new EXP party formula exists is because with the old formula it was unfair to get EXP by not playing the game correctly. You need to put effort in gaining EXP.  They are not planning to change the formula.
  • There are no plans to make Pink Been weaker. They thought that the players would have killed Pink Been in 4 months.
  • Eliminating bots (automatic macro program) is one of their priorities.
  • Adventurers, Knights of Cygnus, Aran and Evan cannot share the Cash Shop because when the Pirate job was released, they did not make a lot of money from it while spending a lot of time for development. Money is just required. They are still thinking if they should unite the Cash Shop among Adventurer and Knights of Cygnus.
  • In March there will be a really big patch.

Seems like 2010 is going to be a big year for MapleStory Korea.
They can be a lot more creative and add unique stuff such as Guild fights / PvP or a Lv. 200 dungeon.
