Ah! While the new job is under development, there is already a sneak peek of the new upcoming job in MapleStory: Dual Blade.
A lot articles were published today about the presentation of Dual Blade by Nexon.
Last week I visited a few MapleStory forums about this new job. Not too long ago, I posted an entry about the job ID of Dual Blade.
People were assuming that Nexon/Wizet made a mistake and that the job ID was a placeholder. I really doubt they would make a mistake like that.
The data proves by its job ID that its an Adventurer and the character selection screen says its an Adventurer.

On the image above, you can read Adventurers and Dual Blade, but you can tell that they’re both Adventurers because of the same color background and it says Adventurers in big letters. (모험가)
Aran and Evan are both considered Heroes. (영웅)
This job does have an own Cash Shop storage and a different way of growing.

I’ll just start with the interesting information.
In the Character Selection Screen, the Hangeul text says it’s an Adventurer. It has a green background like Adventurers, while the Heroes have a dark golden background.
A few questions were asked and of course those behind MapleStory answered. Here are two questions that I found surprising:
Q: How many characters can we expect?
A: Two characters are already prepared. One character is a Hero and the other character is related to the Black Magician.
Currently they haven’t decided a launch date for these two new jobs.
Q: Will the other jobs be modified?
A: It’s planned. Magician, Archer, Pirates etc.
So I guess the jobs will be getting another balance update.
What’s up with the development of Dual Blade?
I said Dual Blade had six job advancements. But in fact it has six stages.
This illustration shows that Dual Blade has six stages but the highest job advancement is 4th Job.
1st Job Advancement (Lv. 10) → Rogue
2nd Job Advancement (Lv. 20) → Semi Dualer
2nd Job Advancement + (Lv. 30) → Dualer
3rd Job Advancement (Lv. 55) → Dual Master
3rd Job Advancement + (Lv. 70) → Slasher
4th Job Advancement (Lv. 120) → Dual Blader
Something totally new for an Adventurer.
What can you expect from Dual Blade?
- Fast
- Damage Dealer
- Exciting
- Flashy skills
- Low defense, but compensated with high attack power
- Bonus attacking action like Aran
What’s the storyline of Dual Blade?
I don’t really know, but the background story starts with the character ‘Dark Lord’. The name of the current Dark Lord is Jin. Jin is the student of the previous Dark Lord. The daughter of Dark Lord, Sulhee, has a conflict with her father. Dual Blade will join them in the storyline.
That’s why you see Dark Lord, Dual Blade and Sulhee as the main characters on the poster.
When will Dual Blade be available?
Dual Blade job will be released on the 18th of February in the test server and the 25th of February in the official server.
Talk about fast progress, huh?

In Kerning City. The town of Thieves.

I don’t know. Maybe they will modify the ‘Rogue’ job because of Dual Blade.
Dual Blade will be released in 8 days in the test server. You’ll have to wait for confirmation.
I’m guessing that the mount is going to be an owl based on the picture and the skill Sudden Death.

im in gms but you have to lv up to level 19 as a rogue then u go to the secret hde out in kerning city and become a dual blader.
u get to lvl19 u go to hide out they give u a qesuste u do it then at lvl20 u come back and u become db

Actualy no, cause the skills for the “Rogue” you start off as is the same as regular but they took off keen eyes and lucky 7, so my thought is no.. man i wish that would be the story cause i have a perfect name.

battle magician and i think theres a pirate mechanic or engineer and the battle magician and the wild bowman are called resistance
it’s called battle mage, mechanic and wild hunter. Wild hunter has a jaguar mount and you can attack on it. Battle Mage is the dark version of Bishop, Meaning it has new awesome skills and Dark Genesis.
But i still don’t know the skills for mechanic cuz it hasn’t showed me yet.

I have a lvl 27 blade recruit, i got him the alien suit so i can fight back the aliens while using my DB skills. and theres no pirate what wait i don’t understand ur question can you make it more sense

will already existing characters below level 10 be able to be a dual blader or do you have to make a new character all together? i ask this because i have a level 5 with a mark of the beta and i would like to make it a dual blader

I’m quite happy they’re not a Legend class, it gives Maplestory a bigger variety, if you know what I mean, and the thought of a black mage related Job sounds Amazing! If this isn’t the big patch Nexon mentioned, Marches Patch is going to be HUGE.

At this point, I am not really sure if it’s a hero or adventurer, they’re releasing evidence that disproves each theory.

Since it’s KMST, I think they use random skill icons instead of the real ones.
yeah they use random skill icons because the job is in KMST. Once it’s out in KMS the icons will be changed (just like how Arans had a skill icon of HB and people all went OMFGGGG arans have HB?!) they don’t..
they do have a shadow partner, haste, FJ-like skills though

OMG! I want this! But how about the HP? Would it be paper defense like a NL or maybe something like a Mesos Guard? Dual Blade goes is a melee, range or semi melee attacker like Shadower?

On the other note, see the 1st skill animation, why is there a Fire Pillar skill (KoC Fire wizard skill) on the “insert” button? LOL? Mistake or maybe a hybrid skill mixture of Mages and Thieves with elemental weakness?

I have some Inferences about the new thief class and maybe some others.
Ok, Now about the new post that Spadow made, there will be a Dual Blade Class/Person. (Whatever floats your boat). I’m going to analyze this post and tell you some of my predictions.
Now if you look at some of the skills, there is one called “Sudden Death”. It’s a giant stone owl dropped on the enemy. Now If you go to the top of the post, you see the intro picture. It has an owl next to the New Class/Person. Out of this I have some predictions, because to me It does not seem like someone just wanted to put an owl in the picture because it looked nice.
Predictions about this :
A. The Owl Can Be A summon
B. The Owl Can Be A Mount
C. The Owl will be Both A and B
D. The Owl will have to do something with the dual blades. I guess this because Maha is the spirit of the giant Pole arm. This could be wrong, but hey, it’s just a prediction.
Next, If you look at this new class, you see that It has Dual blades correct? However, in the Aran picture that everyone is evaluating the new classes from, The dual blade character does not have two blades, however, one dagger and a shield. Now obviously this means, that :
A. This character was not around when the black mage was fighting.
OR
B. There were more than just Heroes fighting the black mage. (Apprentices/Others who were willing to) I know this sounds unlikely, however, hear me out. There can be more than one angle to the picture. The “Thief” class is now a Dual Wielding class, however it had a shield. In the picture there is a person using knuckles and a bow. However, the theif was proven wrong, this proves that now we can no longer use this picture as something to judge the new classes on because this dual blade class proved it wrong.
Based off the Prediction that the Owl will become the mount, I’ve noticed that both A wolf, and an owl can be found in a forest, Can it not? Also, didn’t the Storyline of Evan say that it was found in the Woods or a forest. Now I know that Aran’s wolf is not your typical wolf , however, could it be possible that the mounts for the new classes will be found in forests?
Aran Mount is a Wolf
Evan’s Dragon was found in the Forest/Woods.
New Thief class has something to do with Owls.
What if the new bowman class has something to do with Deer or Elks or something along those lines.
Please take this into consideration and think about this.

About your statement on the validity of the Heroes picture…
Technically, the Evan class disproved the picture, as it lacks any dragon whatsoever. However, the dual-blade class does serve as equally valid evidence.
About your theory on mounts…
I’d actually have to agree with that partially. From what I understand from Aran’s story, Rien wasn’t originally covered in snow and ice, and this weather change was brought on by the Black Mage. If that’s the case, the past version of Rien could very well be considered a forest-like island. The only thing that would put this down is the absence of any wolf whatsoever before Aran was frozen.
Before it was frozen, it was a forest and it caught forest fire because of a spell BM casted. And then when the BM got sealed in the last minute he made it anow.
I doubt the owl has anything to do with the class at all. According to rumor their mounts are going to be Tigers.
Well, for the black mage part, maybe it wasn’t him fighting. Maybe it was another HERO that is a thief?
theres an owl in the hideout that only lets jin touch him and he communicates with his hands i think. Thers a skill and the owl looks like an ornament lol and i think it might be a mount look on youtube

No, the legendary Bowman won’t have deer-like or so Summon or Master. Since its a “legend”, the summon should be a legendary icon too.
Arans = Wolves.
Evans = Dragons.
As you can see in these examples, both of them are kinda legendary typical animals/monsters.
My predictions?
Bowman = Dark Horse
Pirate = Kraken (Octopus)
Thief = Slifer-like
How is a dark horse legendary o.o
The Stag is a fairly prevalent symbol in mythology, so don’t rule deer-like summons out entirely…

Now why would a bowman be associated with the Headless Horseman’s dark steed? After all, the Headless Horseman is associated with sword and steel, not bow and arrow.
Bloody Storm looks like a movement skill, like boomerang step but one-way only.

So if i understand: the Legendary Jobs are normal warior,mage,thief,bowmen,pirate in Hero form, and after those jobs there is coming a Blackmage job and another hero?

So that explains the Dark Lord. I’m guessing that Jin is Lohd’s student.
I’m also guessing that if a new weapon comes out for a Legend, the original job is obviously able to weild it, therefore Nexon might as well make a job that uses that weapon.
The name is Dual Blade. Since it isn’t a legend, it isn’t actually someone’s name for the class. Dual Blade is just a generalization name, just like the other adventurer clsses and cygnus knights.
I spot tigers in the Owl Death and Upper Stab screenshots, summons? Maybe or maybe not at all.
Hey, when the patch comes, would you tell us if this class is stronger or weaker than ARAN in terms of DPS/DPM.

….wrong… for people who say the dmg is weak and they have wierd skill icons…this is a god dam TEST SERVER for christ sakes…meaning they do NOT have all the skills from adventurer, ck, aran, evan but they do have the other jobs’ skill ICON because the skill icons for this new dual blade job ISN’T MADE YET…when evans were first shown in KMST they were hitting like 10-20k in 4th jobs..but what happened when they arrived at KMS? people were actually FUNDED..they can be hitting 5-10 TIMES HIGHER…

I think I found out why this guy is an adventurer…
He needs to get the features. I dare someone to compare this guy to Shadrion from the Expedition team.
They look the exact same. Shadrion is the the bandit guy from Ellin. He says “Don’t think little of me just because I’m little.”. Shadrion was just a kid back then.
He is the only Expedition team character that you do not get to be(Except Purin, which is probably just a glitch). Btw, I think Purin is Kyrin’s mother, which explains her reason to be an elf.

Potential: 2 of 3 Stars
Freedom: 3 of 3 Stars
Difficulty: 2 of 3 Stars
This makes no sense, The freedom depends on how many paths you can take with the class. And for there to be more freedom than the CK, this might not just be a class, but a group of classes such as the Adventurers O_O
Well, by freedom I understand # of PQs u can do (cygnus can’t do epq and cwkpq, nor leyends) and also the quests u MUST do. For example Arans got 1 freedom because u HAVE TO complete the storyline to get skills. The same apply to cygnus but they don’t have THAT much quests, thats why they got 2.

@ghost: true freedom is supposed to represent the number of paths the character can take =o.
So either Dual Blade can be chosen through normal adventurer-ness and only gets it’s own spot because of it’s new-ness.

They’re planning on making more of these 2nd adventurers =o which would pwn.

Speculations, I would predict that Dual Blade still has something to do with Legends. I am assuming that Dual Blade is made “Adventurer” to boost the popularity of Adventurer exclusives -OR- storyline related being Rouge in the first advancement. Probably, Dual Blades are Adventurers with a fixed storyline about joining a Ninja Clan that worships the Thief Legend. On your way to become stronger maybe you would have something to do with Dark Lord’s relationship and what not. But in the end you are still not a Legend but a fancy clan member. IMO, Dual Blades are “Adventurers” with “Legend” properties.
BTW, trust me that Dual Blades are going to be OP again, seriously, who actually cared about defense?

The adventurer classes are warriors, mages, theives, bowmen, pirates. This new Dual-Blade will fall under the Adventurer Class under Thief.
The Legendary/Hero Classes are the Arans, Evans etc.

might mean that the new Dual Blade will somehow be tied to the Black Magician through the Job Instructors since we’ve seen Athena Pierce was involved with Aran. It also is saying that we can expect a new Hero/Legendary Class and I think people are speculating it will be the bowman Hero.
Anyway, what i wanted to say was… although this update looks neat and new, it’s really overstepping the lines. Nexon is giving an attacker class an ultimate?! Can we review that again… not only will they level like crazy compared to the other attackers, they will also be wanted for their “damage dealer”? Jeez. Not to mention, half of their skills look like Mob skills, and it closely resembles those of a Shadower but with better animation, better mob skills.
Let’s see, they have 6 different attacking skills, while Shadowers get BoT, Assasinate, Bstep, and Assaulter.
Well, all in all, Nexon better come up with an awesome balancing patch for the other classes or the others will look feeble compared to this one which can be both attacker and mage-like. I’m disappointed in this one.

means that that the legendary jobs are: Evan,Aran,Hero anda related to the Black magian job and not aran(warrior),evan(mage),…(thief),…(bowmen),….(pirate)?
Look at the damage from screenshot. It seems pretty low to me. I don’t think it is overpower at this point.
well not to be a total noob but can someone explain how to play KMS while in the states? Becuase all these new and exciting patches seem like they arn’t coming here for a very long time….. -_-
The wait used to be a full year before KMS content reached GMS. Over the past year or so, the wait somehow shortened to half a year.
Anyways, if you want to play KMS, go over to the ElinForest forums, in which you can find the link to the right side of the page. They have a very rigorus process though – there were problems with hackers from GMS coming in and causing havoc in KMS. The process is also rigorus in part due to the fact that while there is no IP block, KMS uses something else that is even more of a deterrent: the requirement to sign-up with a KSSN (Korean Social Security Number).
So you HAVE to know someone from Korea who is ok to share his KSSN ? Or there is any way to “break” this security ? (Maybe fake numbers but with good logic that the computer think it’s true ?)
There’s some ways to obtain a KSSN. It’s kindof simple actually..

no fake random numbers would not work, there is a kssn keygenerator but is illegaly under many circumstances which in this casei could make an account for u without the use of a kssn

This “Ultima” could easily have a cooldown time longer than Snipe…
I don’t see what the problem is, really.
Melee attacker classes with ultimates aren’t unheard of in most other MMOs, and if they’re going to make a Thief class based purely on mob/DPS, more power to them, considering Shadowers, although viable attackers, are still outshined by Heroes.
If you’re for some reason worried about them replacing ranged classes, you’re getting anxious over nothing. Unless this thing has an attack that could even equal Hurricane/Rapid Fire in speed and power, I’m pretty sure Ranged classes have nothing to worry about.
Besides, if this class is able to run CWKPQ, this’ll make the first new class able to run it, so that’s another bonus. Although damage seems low from the screens, they’re still in Alpha-phase, so we won’t see the true damage till pre-release Tespia.

In my opinion, they are stating that one of the two new jobs (which is left with pirate and archer)is having a close relationship with the black magician and the other is a hero. Which in my opinion, one is a goody and the other a baddie.

I THINK! The pirate is the one that has close contact with the black magician. Looking at the normal pirates, they keep saying things about the black magician. Hopefully MapleSEA gets it by May or June. And hopefully, the black magician will show himself(or maybe its a female 0.o”) by the next 2 years. I think that the bowman should have a mechanic bow or a shooter on the arm(juz kidding about the shooter, i got the idea from a taiwan drama lols). And the pirate should wield dual guns or something, and cooler outfits. ANYWAY! Just support NEXON k? So much for my speech.

we know that for every adventurer a legend/hero is going to be released (refering to the picture in aran release and the pattern of the new released classes).
We also know that for every hero/legend a unique background is created, otherwise it would be dull, right? and so far it is has been different (a surviving legend and a hero’s successor).
We also know that besides this thief a bowman hero and a pirate hero still need to come.
We know from what they said that they still have 2 unplanned releasedates for 2 more classes.
We know that the dual blader class is as far finished to have his releasedate ready.
*NOW some speculation!!!!*
that makes it not hard to see that a bowman and a pirate her/legend are in the make, but are not in such a state yet to give a releasedate.
Also, if only 2! more classes are in the make and this dual blader class is not among the hero/legend lines, or don’t even have anything to do with them, then where is our thief hero for the ultimate battle? Sure it could still be in the make, but what other class is left out then? That’s why I intent to go for the first suggestion, that this dual blader class DOES have something to do with the hero/legend.

So it will be between the bowman and the pirate. The next question i ask myself is, which one is most likely at least at first related to the black magician? Then I say pirate. Of course it could be the bowman, but the pirate just has higher chances, cause it’s a pirate, it’s more logical that way.

Yes.. Pirates did have quests related to the Black Magician. If you actually read any of the dialogue you would realise that they are fighting AGAINST the Black Mage, They returned to Victoria Island for the sole reason of recruiting more Pirates to fight back with

It is coming out on 2/25. The event ends right on time, people can get their items & blades on the release day of Dual Blade.
Dual Blade is not the only update in this term.

No, the event is available until the 24th. Then there will be a patch on the 25th (Dual Blade release) which will add the new job, maps, items, blades etc.
If you double-click on your Owl Feather, it says you can open it on the 25th of February.
Several known websites reported about the press conference, saying Dual Blade will be in the official server on 2/25.

He could be the job instructor for the Dual Blader division. I posted previously, that this guy looks just like Shadrion from Ellin. He escaped from the Black mage. After they settled in Ellin, Shadrion had a bandage over his forehead, the same place the scar is located on the guy up there.
Shadrion use to be a bandit, too. He can be found in a hunting ground in Ellin, leaning on a dagger.
My theory is that Shadrion (He is probably a fairy), lived all those years, with the Dark Lords. He now is the leader of the Dual Blader division.
Maybe… But i still think it’ll be the student-master relationship… But that thing about that guy that escaped from the black mage is what it makes me believe too that it can be connected with him…
But what i really want to know is when is it comming out in global maple story… evan hasn´t come out… they haven´t said anything about evan in maple global website…

hmmmmm…… i spy a small little owl atop the sign for the place where dual bladers start….. Also, the owl may not be a mount or a summon, im pretty sure aran cant summon/ride the bird that was in that was in the pic of him…. This may be the Theif legend also,, because i do not see and dragon in the pic of the 5 heros and the black mage…… Also, this class has shit damage.

evans have dragon mounts at lvl 50

well aran has a wolf in its pic. and evan has a dragon.

If anyone remembers, the original testing of Evan wasn’t listed as Hero either, but now it is. The Dual Blade very well could be bumped to Hero later on as Evan was. Additionally, Evan wasn’t one of the frozen Heroes that had fought the Black Mage. Just because 5 heroes did in the past doesn’t mean only they can do it again. Aran’s release stated “The original Hero(Singular) revived” or w/e. It’s very possible that he was the only one to awaken period, as Lilin only awaited HIS return. You’re all forgetting that the original 5 lived over 100 years ago, and these new jobs are existing NOW in the present. There can be ANY AMOUNT of *new* Heroes/other to fight the Black Mage this go-around. Discuss.
ya but aran was the only one dat was frozen. aran is the only hero ALIVE so dat makes him over a 100 yrs old. evan on the other hand is like a dragon master. one of the 5 heros was a dragon master. and the dragon had a baby egg… so the dragon master hid it and later evan found it. so evan is like the DESENDANT of a hero. so idk kms is so complicated now. i wish they would just say dat 5 jobs were hero, instead of making up complicated stories @.@
dualblade… or “two tiny daggers” job will suck because it offers nothing new.
a new mele class will not make ppl open it.the same law remains you stab the monsters with your weapon… its like “hey this car do 180 an hour but this car can do 360 an hour” both are stupid cars. if kmst will just release a high lvl map and stop been High that low lvl players last more time then high lvl players “low lvl playrs need more help lvling while high lvl players lvl so fast” if there will be a glitch that you get banned for opening this job then this job will Rock!

since it fires arrows same as a dual blade uses dual blades…
Dude wtf are you talking about, of course a lot of people will create a duel blader when it comes out because of it’s appeal so far. And your lil metaphor of a car going 180 mphs and a car that goes 360 mphs makes no since at all and how are they stupid cars? Also making new class called “firing arrow” what the fuck is that, bowman already have a skill called Inferno. Lastly how is firing arrows same as wielding duel blades? When “firing arrows” you usually use a bow or one weapon, while technically duel blades are two weapons in your hand.
What doyou mean it offers nothing new? Please, explain every aspect of this class in DETAIL to me so I can urther understand, because as of right now, pretty much zero information has been released to the public regarding the new classes.
the car’s was an example of the mele class and that if you make another mele class its the same there is a huge dif betwin a warior and a mage.. but not so much betwin a bandit to the dual blade.. there some diffrences but all i am saying they need to think beyond and invent new stuff and not more mele classes to ms

You don’t want a new class, but you want higher leveled areas?
You say that dual blade and bandits are just the same, because they both use ‘dagger-like’ weapons?
Then what is the difference between smashing a snail and smashing high leveled future-based monsters (or any other monster you want, for that matter)?
You see, in basics, everything is just the same. Also that nice car-methaphor of you, it was pretty good to explain it.
Also, don’t all the adventurer jobs have stupid names if you get to think about it? I mean, the name Fire/Poison Mage. What does it imply? That it’s a mage which uses Fire and Poison. Whooo~ Or the name Crossbowman. What does it imply? That it’s a man who uses Crossbows. Whooo~ Get it? Therefore, if there would come some sort of fire-bowman as a new adventurer class, it could just be named ‘Firing Arrow’, although I think it’ll be rather ‘Firearrowman’ or something along those lines ^^

How come in the quick slot section you can see shadow partner and a blaze wizard skill…you also see aran combat step…..as well as arans final toss skill….there is also 4th job warrior rush skill….looks kinda fake to me…..
It is place holder images. The same thing happens when Aran and Evan were developed.

Legends: Based on AEIOU Aran, Evan, Ian Ochan and Itan. Yes this was confirmed at the KMS Convention.
Dual Blades? Where do these classify under? Under thier own class? Adventurers? Legends? And will Magicians, Warriors, etc follow after Dual Bladers? And has anyone heard of the ”Evil Adventurers” Coming later on?
Oh yeah Dual Bladers could also be like another Thief? Like there is an Assasin, Bandit and now Dual Bladers too? Like Magicians have three? Fire, Ice and Cleric? Someone help Lol.

Guys I have a theory about all Legend/Hero classes. It’s going around Victoria Island (In case you haven’t noticed) Aran=Perion Evan= Ellinia. So, That means next legend/hero class will be for Pirates, then Bowman , and last Thief. If you see the map from the Island It’ll make more sense.

Dual Blade just came out today, and sadly the mount is just pigs. They already completed the patch, but now they’re doing it again for 4 hours because people can’t equipt storage items, people got banned for hacking reasons if they didn’t do anything (including me), and a lot more.
